Young Man, There's No Need To Feel Down

Tuesday

We've gotten spoiled having Ro in school, almost forgetting what it was like having him home all day every day. When he gets a chance to burn off some energy and/or expend some creativity, he is so fun to be around, but coop him up in an apartment all day, and he can be...well, less than fun. With this in mind, we enrolled him in the local YMCA school holiday program for a couple days this week so he could be around other kids his age. Today the kids at the Y went to the local aviation museum at the Tauranga airport. Ro loved climbing in all the vintage WWII fighters!
Sherry had a doctor's appointment this morning, then stopped by the Warehouse (like Wal-Mart) to do some bargain-hunting. Meeting Mark for brunch at Main Street Cafe (one of our favorite spots) down the block from our apartment, Sherry enjoyed her usual cappuccino and breakfast wrap, while Mark stuck to his flat white and Eggs Benedict. Ro spent the second half of the day doing art projects at the Y. Sherry and Ro had seen Ice Age 3 last night while Mark was at work, so Ro made a clay "dinosaur egg." Let's just say it bore a near-perfect resemblance to something else that might come out of a dino's backside. Since we had our first nice weather today in recent memory, we picked up Ro at the end of the day and took him to Tay Street Beach before going home. The beach is only a block from his primary school, and in the summertime, his class will go to the beach on a regular basis. The sunset behind The Mount with the moon rising in the east made for a very picturesque setting.

In the distance (L to R): Mauao (The Mount), Moturiki Is, Motuotau Is

Once hit by the cool ocean breeze, Ro thought better of stripping off and put his clothes back on

Just kidding!
