Lazy Day Off...Almost

Saturday

Sherry nearly forgot that she had signed up to wrap Christmas presents today at the mall as a fundraiser for the toy library. The text message reminding her of it this morning nearly broke her heart, as she was looking forward to a quiet Saturday and spending some time with Mark since he'd been working all week. Ro soon drove Mark batty in the apartment, so they went to Pilot Bay. There were tons of jellyfish washed up on the sand, so many that an adult could have leapt from one to the next like stepping stones all the way down the beach.

Who knew a storm drain could be so interesting?

It wasn't long before Ro talked Mark into getting some ice cream at the pier. The ice cream here is either kept at a higher temperature, or has a different composition, because it seems to melt a lot faster than in the US - and it wasn't even that hot today! Ro was soon dripping with orange chocolate chip goo, but his attention was soon diverted by two older girls playing on the pier. In his totally non-subtle way, he stared at them unblinking for a solid two minutes as he left the pier, his head twisting nearly completely around from the direction he was walking, the drool making the ice cream on his face even runnier.

Too bad Ro can't absorb nutrients through his arm

Sherry dutifully stayed late at the wrapping event to cover for some no-shows, while Mark and Ro kept busy playing in the apartment and watching Wall-E. After her prolonged wrapping session was over, Sherry braved the Christmas crowds and found a cute dress 50% off, since she needed a nice one for the holidays. Mark entertained Ro at the pool for the rest of the afternoon, while Sherry prepared a delicious dinner of barbecued lamb chops (for Mark), tofu and bulghur (for her and Ro), steamed broccoli, and fresh corn on the cob.
