A Sunny Education

Wednesday

Ro has been sick for past several days and Sherry kept him out of school. He would seem fine for most of the day, but would spike fevers and get all stuffy at night. He was feeling a little better this morning, though, so she took a chance and sent him to school. They dropped Mark off at work so Sherry would have the car to shuttle kids on today's school field trip to...Mt Maunganui?!? Seems kinda silly, but it is a fair walk from the school. After all, there are field trips here nearly every day from all over the North Island; why should the locals miss out?

The heck with sittin' around, I wanna catch something!

The whole primary school walked around Mauao to the tidepools. Sherry was the only one who found anything terribly interesting: a crab. She caught it with a net, but didn't want to touch it. She waved it around to show it to the kids as it clung precipitously to the net, inadvertently scaring some of the girls to tears, who were afraid it would drop on them! One of the dads finally showed the kids how to hold it without getting pinched. Ronan was really proud of his crab-hunting mum.

The class stopped at Drury Park on the way back to school for lunch, and then headed back to school to prepare pizza dough for tomorrow. Once Ro got home, he talked Sherry into taking him to the pool, but it was soon time to dry off and pick Mark up from work.
